Pistorius & Olšanská, s. r. o.
The publishing house Pistorius & Olšanská was founded in 2006 by the publisher Vladimir Pistorius and his wife Mária Olšanská, a bookseller. From the beginning the firm has been publishing both Czech and foreign fiction, poetry, non-fiction and literary studies. It also runs a students’ publishing programme the Scholares. The books in this series are edited and prepared by students as a part of the training in publishing managed by Vladimir Pistorius and organized by the Department of Czech Literature and Comparative Literature at the Charles University in Prague. Since 2010, Pistorius & Olšanská has been running two bookstores in Příbram and Hořovice. The residence of the publishing house is in Příbram. Pistorius & Olšanská publishes some 15 book a year, it cooperates with prominent Czech translators and its books have won several awards, for example:

- Svetlana Alexijevich: Doba z druhé ruky [Vremja “Second Hand”] – Book of the Year 2015 (the prestigious survey of the Lidové noviny daily).
- Avraham B. Yehoshua: Pan Mani [Mr. Mani], translated by Magdalena Křížová – shortlist of the Josef Jungmann Award for the best Czech Translation of the Year 2011.
- Wisława Szymborska: Okamžik. Dvojtečka. Tady [Chwila. Dwukropek. Tutaj], translated by Vlasta Dvořáčková – Josef Jungmann Award for the best Czech Translation of the Year 2009 awarded by the Association of Czech translators.
- Vladimír Sorokin: Den opričníka [Den oprichnika], translated by Libor Dvořák – shortlist of the Magnesia Litera Award 2009; shortlist of the Josef Jungmann Award for the best Czech Translation of the Year 2009.
- Avraham B. Yehoshua: Milenec [The Lover], translated by Magdalena Křížová – Ondřej Hrach Award for the best Czech Translation of the Year 2009 made by young translators.
